Our Congregation was founded on August 1, 2018. We formed out of a bible study that oddly enough, was based on two verses of scripture.
There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that You would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.
(1Ch 4:9-10)
What began as a three-week study, soon grew into 8 months. As we sought to learn all that Jabez was asking God, we learned that maybe we were not asking enough of God. It is our responsibility as believers to lean and depend on God. Jabez earnestly wanted to see all that he was attached to, increase. We as a small group had each experienced lack in our relationship with God. What we realized is just as James says;
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
(Jas 4:1-3)
We had settled for good enough, and in settling, there comes a place where there is no satisfaction. As a church, we desire a closeness with God through Jesus at the leading of the person of the Holy Spirit. Our hearts are to see all mankind come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.
John 3:16-21 NLT “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (17) God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. (18) “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. (19) And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. (20) All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. (21) But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. “
